2026 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley. Gresley was one of the foremost steam locomotive engineers who became Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LNER designing many famous locomotives. As Chairman of the Gresley Society (amongst many other accolades), Philip Benham is very well placed to tell us more about the man and his works.
This meeting will be held in the Brierley Room of the York Explore Library, Museum Street, York, YO1 7DS. This venue is about ten minutes walk from York Railway Station, across Lendal Bridge towards the Minster. It is on the left just before the traffic lights.
There is a café inside the library selling drinks and snacks.
Members of other groups and visitors are welcome to attend. A voluntary contribution of at least £3.00 is requested to help defray meeting room expenses.
