The winners of the 2025 RCHS Transport History Book of the Year Awards were announced and the authors presented with their awards on Saturday 21st September at the ‘Church at Carrs Lane’, Birmingham.

The six books shortlisted for the 22nd Annual Awards were:
The Swansea Canal and its Early Railways by Stephen Hughes
Crumlin Viaduct by Gordon Wood with Neil Parkhouse and Stephen Rowson
Railway Travel in World War Two by Peter Steer
Iron, Stone and Steam, Brunel’s Railway Empire by Tim Bryan
Chalk Farm Railway Lands, a Guided Tour 1830 – 2030 by Peter Darley
The Life of LTC Rolt, where Engineering met Literature by Victoria Owens

The winner of this year’s Transport History of the Year prize (following his award for Canal and Waterways History Book of the Year) was Stephen Hughes, seen here receiving the David St John Thomas silver cup from Society President, Peter Cross-Rudkin
Stephen Rowson and Neil Parkhouse received the award for Railway History Book of the Year from RCHS President, Peter Cross-Rudkin:

Unfortunately Peter Darley, winner of the Judges Special Award (only the third such award in the twenty-two years history of the RCHS Annual Awards) was unfortunately unable to be present to receive his award.
