Michael Carr will tell the story of The Clarence Railway. This railway, serving Durham and Teesside, opened in 1833 as a competitor of the much better-known Stockton and Darlington Railway. It was named in honour of the Duke of Clarence, later King William IV. We will hear of its history, illustrated by historic photographs and some new images of what remains, part of which is still in use.
