Joint meeting with the LNWR Society.

John Martin will give a presentation on the Dundalk, Newry and Greenore Railway.  This has the distinction of being the only railway in Ireland owned by the London & North Western Railway. Greenore was promoted as an alternative port to the shallow coastal ports of Dundalk and Newry and the railway connected these and gave links to Belfast and Dublin.  The motive power was built in Crewe and the carriages were in LNWR livery. From 1922 the line briefly became the LNWR’s only cross border-railway.

The meeting will commence at 14.00 in The Birmingham and Midland Institute, 9 Margaret Street Birmingham and all are welcome.
