Exploring Extant & Former Railways South of St Helens: 26th July 2018

Note revised train timetable:

The walk will commence from St Helens Junction Station at 11:00am following the arrival of the 10:28am departure from Manchester Victoria (Liverpool train) arriving St Helens Junction at 10:56am (this train also departs from Earlestown at 10:52.).
An alternative train is the 9:53am departure from Manchester Piccadilly also arriving St Helens Junction at 10:56; this journey involves a change of trains at Newton-le-Willows (dep 10:50am).

This walk of 6 miles will be lead by Mark Jones will start at St Helens Junction and explore railways to the south (towards Widnes) including the former Clock Face Colliery Branch.

There will be a pub lunch at the Clock Face Pub & Restaurant, 408 Clock Face Road, St Helens, WA9 4QS. The pub requires 48 hours notice of all menu choices and in a block booking.
This means that choices from the menu (click for menu) must be given to Gerald Leach no later than Monday 23rd July. The alternative is to bring a packed lunch.

The walk will end at Farnworth where a bus can be taken to Widnes Station for onward connections to St Helens, Warrington or Manchester.
