A talk by by David Turner
Dr David Turner is an Associate Lecturer in railway studies with the University of York’s Centre for Lifelong Learning.
David says that he has had an interest in railways since his grandfather took him to a steam railway at the age of 2! He undertook a PhD in Railway Studies with the University of York and National Railway Museum’s Institute of Railway Studies and Transport History and was awarded his doctorate in 2013. He is teaching an on-line Postgraduate Diploma in railway studies, which covers many aspects of British railway history.
Before the meeting members often gather in the bar from about 17:30.
Food is available in the bar from 17:30 hrs and afterwards.
Drinks may be taken up to the meeting room.
Members of other Groups and visitors are welcome to meetings.
An optional contribution towards expenses is requested at meetings.
At present £1.50 from each member and guest covers the cost of the meeting room and other expenses.
