Visit to the Burnley area –  Consisting of a rail journey from Manchester, travelling over the recently re-instated Todmorden curve and alighting at Rose Grove, from where there will be a 4.5 miles walk, mainly along the towpath of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal starting from Rose Grove railway station.  During the course of the walk, visits will be made to Burnley’s three railway stations and a diversion to follow the track bed of the former Bank Hall Colliery Branch.  Meet at Manchester Victoria Station in time to board the 09.56 Blackburn train departure via Todmorden  (i.e. not via Bolton). The recommended rail ticket is a standard return to Rose Grove. There will be opportunity for a pub lunch or bring sandwiches.
